About the event

Join us for the opening of our final commission of 2026, To drink and drown in pools of ourselves by Jemima Lucas on Friday, 9 October, from 6–8pm.

For Passage, Lucas has made her largest work to date. A spike pierces a suspended form. Green liquid leaves the point of contact and travels through storm drains laid across the gallery floor. Elsewhere, a propeller turns.

Lucas draws on mechanisms that usually occupy the peripheries of urban life. Drains and exhaust systems make shared space possible while remaining largely unseen within it. Removed from their usual settings, these structures become difficult to regard as neutral. They carry, expel and circulate; they also determine what can remain and what must move elsewhere.
