About the event

Please join us for the opening of MYSTERY SOLVED by Jack Ball on Friday, 22 May, from 6–8pm.

MYSTERY SOLVED is a large-scale installation of photography, sculpture and video that forms a tangled network of imagery, with shifting sightlines and a playful visual vocabulary.

Through collage and abstraction, the exhibition stages a spacious dialogue about public gaze, limiting narratives in media representation, and the architecture and infrastructure that shape how bodies move through space.

The work draws on Ball’s ongoing engagement with historical materials held within the Australian Queer Archives that reference trans and gender diverse lives. Across the installation, image formations reference airport runways, rockfall nets, archways, vents and gates. These architectural and infrastructural forms are playfully reworked into a bodily, porous and chaotic weave. Repetition, layering and movement mirror the conditions of media circulation itself, where images are continually reframed and recontextualised.
