Dumplings with the Artist | Wang Zhiyuan

Please join us on Thursday 24th July from 6:30pm for Dumplings with the Artist, with Wang Zhiyuan. Zhiyuan will be in conversation with Passage Co-Director Patrick Madden to unpack the themes of his exhibition and a deep dive into the archives of Zhiyuan's artistic practice, one that spans over five decades and has resisted easy clarification. Guided instead by a sense of humour and a philosopher's thirst for thought, his work raises questions about sudden shifts and evolutions in culture, politics, and even romantic relationships.

While his practice resists simple labels, it consistently engages with contemporary consciousness much like his current exhibition at Passage "Dictator Training Centre 独裁者培训中心", where audience members encounter a crudely built brick wall with a spray painted mobile number on it to call a Dictator Training Centre.

From 6:30pm, guests are invited into Passage for an artist talk. Afterwards, guests are invited to dinner hosted downstairs…
